Directed by Clay David, THE WIZ, will run March 3 - 7, 2010. David has put a unique spin on the classic musical (the movie version starred Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Stephanie Mills and Lena Horne). He has set the fantasy in the East Bay in present times. "Dorothy is a girl from Richmond, and her adventures on a magical BART train," says David, well known for his directorial preciseness at making shows accessible to today's audiences. "Richmond is definitely not Kansas," remarks David, who adds that the show is full of music that "is dazzling. A lively mixture of rock, gospel and soul."
